At this year’s Golden Guitars in Tamworth Amber was nominated for 3 awards - “Female Artist of the Year”, “Video of the Year” and “APRA Song of the Year”. Australian Idol runner-up LUKE DICKENS captured the ears, hearts and minds of Australians throughout his 2008 Idol performance. Luke’s story is a truly remarkable tale of the diamond in the rough. Luke’s success has taken him far from the humble beginnings of pub dreams in his hometown of Young NSW to the steps of the Sydney Opera House, where he performed in front of a crowd of 10,000 and a TV audience of over 5 million. At age 16 he left school and headed into the shearing trade where he made a living for the next 9 years. In May 2008, at age 26 on a dare Luke turned up to the Australian Idol auditions. To his surprise after signing a gutsy version of Billy Joel’s Piano Man he was given that rare gold ticket to Sydney. Luke charmed the country with his rock tunes and down to earth nature. In 2009 Luke released his debut single “Seize The Day” and is currently putting the finishing touches to his debut album in Sydney for release in 2010. The boy from the country is now a house-hold name, but with all of his success, the thing about Luke is that is even though you can take the boy out of the country, you will never take the country out of the boy. www.lukedickens.com
The 2010, “Maton New Talent of the Year” winner, VICTORIA BAILLIE released her self-titled debut EP in 2006, establishing herself as one of the hot new talents. Since the release of her album “Start Brand New” in early 2009, Victoria has toured nationally and had significant chart success as well as receiving a clothing endorsement from RM Williams. Having previously been nominated in the finals of numerous awards, including the 2006 MusicOz Awards, the 2007 Coopers Golden Saddle and the Australian Country Music People’s Choice Awards, Victoria took home the Rising Star/Female Award at the 2006 Independent Country Music Awards, and her EP was named the winner of the Tasmanian and New Zealand EP of the Year. Victoria also reached the grand final of both the 2007 and 2008 Toyota Star Maker Competition, named a finalist in the 2007 Telstra Road to Tamworth Competition and was also a finalist in the 2009 Golden Saddle Awards. Her music is fresh, innovative and undeniably contemporary. “Melt” the first single off the album showcased her superb vocals and the second single “Make Me” reached #3 on the Country Tracks Top 30 and #2 on the CMC Chart. Victoria’s current single “Stupid” currently rides in both the CMC and Country Tracks chart. www.victoriabaillie.com
