History of the Kinross Woolshed Hotel
The Kinross Woolshed was built in the early 1890's by Mr Alexander Ross on his property
near Holbrook, just north of Albury.
At its peak in 1914, 43 stands were operational, servicing many smaller properties
in the area as well. Since that time, as the size of the Kinross property diminished,
there has been a continual decline in the number of stands in use, till 1987 when
only 10 were operating.
At the beginning of 1988, the shed was transported here to Thurgoona and rebuilt,
retaining many of the original round timber supports, interior walls, pen gates,
corrugated iron etc. The original Ferrier wool press, No. 398, is also in the restored
shed.
